In Beer We Trust! | Celebrate 80 Years of Unprohibition.

Posted by Tapped Life on

On December 5, Tapped Life emphatically celebrated the 80th anniversary of the repeal of prohibition (and we have the headache to prove it). Most of us do not have a recollection of those dark, alcohol forbidden times. And, we’re grateful now, more than ever, for our freedom to choose. To choose between innovative craft beer offerings and large-scale American brewers who provide no real substance. ¡Viva independencia! What Prohibition did to citizens and breweries was unconscionable. In 1920, the Eighteenth Amendment was passed and for 13 years there were no bars, breweries, distilleries, wineries or any legal alcohol manufacturing in the...

Beer Tech | Craft Beer for a Better World.

The argument has been made that the technologies we embrace make our lives more difficult, not easier. But sometimes, there’s an invention that truly changes things. The answer to all of these questions: probably not. “Probably,” because it’s just not feasible that everyone who ever had a dream to be a craft brewer is going to open up a brew pub. Just like those pre-adolescent thoughts of becoming an astronaut don’t materialize for most of the population, becoming a legitimate brewer is also a pipe-dream. Still, there are 2,500 breweries in the US right now. Some are...

Great American Beer Festival = BEER

Posted by Tapped Life on

The Great American Beer Festival, known affectionately as GABF, began in 1982. Leave it to a nuclear engineer, Charlie Papazian, to create such a life-altering event. GABF is considered the largest ticketed beer festival in the United States and it is taking place October 10-12 in Denver. Great american beer festival = beer. “According to the Guinness Book of World Records®, there is no other place on earth where a beer aficionado can find more beers on tap.” So says the GABF website. It’s definitely the only place that offers 2,800 one-ounce samples of beer from 600 American craft breweries....
